  1. Re: Can't mount drive to samba share folder.

    1. Is /samba/public emptry folder? You should only use empty folders as mount points.

    2. Does it give you any error when trying to mount manually? Post the output of:

    sudo mount -v /dev/sdb1...
  2. Re: Unable to mount Synology drive to recover files

Did you examine the superblock BEFORE actually creating your new array? Checking it out later gives you info about the array you created, not about the array Synology had created.

    I don't have...
  3. Re: Ubuntu Server 18.04 seeing more disk space than physically present

You could also check things with:

    lsblk
sudo parted /dev/sda unit GiB print

At the end of the day, I know you want to discover why this happens, but if it works with precreated partitions then...
  4. Re: RAID 5 crashed on Synology - deleted wrong drive by mistake

    OK, few things I see.

    1. There is no sdd3 partition. Not a problem right now, you can assemble raid5 with one member missing. Can deal with that later.
    2. The output of --examine on the third...
  5. Re: Ubuntu Server boot fails because missing hdmi drivers

If you are encrypting root make sure you have separate /boot partition, unencrypted. I think it needs that to work correctly.

I use 18.04 with encrypted partitions for data, but not root. And it...
  6. Re: Ubuntu Server boot fails because missing hdmi drivers

Are you encrypting the root partition too?
  7. Re: Ubuntu Server boot fails because missing hdmi drivers

As far as I know the -server- ISO doesn't do any graphics except the basic text CLI.

Have you tried LTS release like 18.04? That is the latest LTS.
  8. [SOLVED] Re: lose internet with static ip ubuntu-server16

First of all, you can't simply decide to use a static IP unless it was assigned to you to use. If you receive some IP by dynamic, that doesn't mean you can convert the settings in static and continue...
  9. Re: Create RAID 1 for /VAR and /HOME with mdadm

To point out something else: the array devices /dev/md0 and /dev/md1 will serve as devices for /home and /var. You do NOT create any more partitions after you have created the arrays.

    I say this...

[server] Re: ubuntu server install on eMMC

Most flash memory would be good enough. You don't need to worry too much about installing and updating.

One possible issue is if you run too much traffic through the VPN because basically it will...
  11. [server] Re: Problems accessing gpt raid partitions on linux ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS

Are you sure you used partitions? I ask because I have seen many cases people use the whole disk in mdadm, without creating any partition. I always do partitions by the way.

    One of the tools I...

Re: zpool import hanging on Ubuntu 19.04

If you think you are affected by a bug that has been patched, did you compare the zfs version in 18.04, the one in 19.04 and the latest zfs directly from their team?

Maybe they offer a deb file to...

Re: zpool import hanging on Ubuntu 19.04

Unfortunately I can't help you much because I have no in depth ZFS knowledge.

But if you tried 19.04 and the problem is still there, I would go back to 18.04 LTS and try to troubleshoot it. It...
  14. Re: Can't bring up network (possible typo?)

Taking a second look, try this:

    1. In the yaml file add this:

    network:
    version: 2
    renderer: networkd
    ethernets:
    .....
  15. Re: Can't bring up network (possible typo?)

First a silly question. Is the public IP you are trying to assign yours? I am asking because I have sen cases where people simply disregard the recommendation to use private IPs and go for...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Install Ubuntu on existing software raid 1

This is the official help page for Advanced (softraid) installation of Ubuntu Server 18.04: https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/advanced-installation.html

It might be little less detailed than...
  17. [ubuntu] Re: Install Ubuntu on existing software raid 1

I don't know if suse does it another way but in ubuntu usually you do not partition the md arrays. Which means there should be no p1 or p2 after the /dev/md126.

In general, yes, you can easily...
  18. Re: Persistently exposing iSCSI LUNS after a reboot

Did you go through the official doc in case something there can help you? It seems they are doing it in a different way (hasn't worked with iscsi that much lately myself)....

    [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS - NFS-Common

Have you tried using autofs instead of entry in fstab? I do my nfs shares like that on the client side.

    [SOLVED] Re: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS - NFS-Common

Are you sure nfs-common service should be running all the time at all?

I have nfs server and client on my LAN, and I just checked both and nfs-common is stopped (inactive). But nfs shares work...
  21. [SOLVED] Re: RAID 5 Rebuild Issues (No md0 superblock)

Yes, it's bad. It can't find the filesystem to mount (wrong fs type).
  22. [SOLVED] Re: RAID 5 Rebuild Issues (No md0 superblock)

That no superblock message is not an error. You run mdadm -D on an array. You ran mdadm -E on members of the array.

That is why you get that message, it's normal.

Best way to test is trying to...
  23. [SOLVED] Re: RAID 5 Rebuild Issues (No md0 superblock)

I don't know if you can save this yet, because you made a very big error. The good part might be that you never managed to mount the new array and write to it, so that leaves little hope to get the...
  24. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu MDADM Raid 1 Accidental Zero Superblock

Honestly, I don't have anything at hand and no time to look online now...

Don't forget the half-array is mounted read-only now and it has only one disk.

Unmount it and add sdb to gain two-disk...
  25. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu MDADM Raid 1 Accidental Zero Superblock

Depending if the things you ran on sda later could have destroyed something more, you might be able to save this or not. Because only destroying the superblock is easily recoverable.

    Usually you...
