  1. [ubuntu] Re: Trying to update, system says boot partitions is out of space?

Autoremove seemed to do the trick; the system initially suggested apt-get clean, but that had failed. Thanks for the help! Hopefully this bug gets squashed in a future update.
  2. [ubuntu] Trying to update, system says boot partitions is out of space?

I've got a 500GB drive in my Ubuntu 14.04 machine, and after trying to install the latest round of updates (about 200MB) worth, I get an error saying I'm out of disk space. Looking in gparted,...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Resized Virtualbox VDI file, expanded it in Gparted...Ubuntu doens't see extra sp

Thanks! Do I need to use a boot disk, or can I perform that while I'm logged in normally?
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Resized Virtualbox VDI file, expanded it in Gparted...Ubuntu doens't see extra sp

    Yep, that worked fine, too.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Resized Virtualbox VDI file, expanded it in Gparted...Ubuntu doens't see extra sp

That's exactly what I did, except I used a Gparted ISO to boot from. But after I boot into Ubuntu proper, it still says the disk is only 8GB under Disk Usage...while Gparted (within Ubuntu) says 12GB.
  6. [ubuntu] Resized Virtualbox VDI file, expanded it in Gparted...Ubuntu doens't see extra space

I used VBoxManage to expand the default 8GB VDI for Ubuntu to 12GB. Then I booted the VM into Gparted to enlarge the main partition. No problems yet. However, when booting into the Ubuntu VM, it...
  7. [ubuntu] Trying to share to PCs/Macs via Samba, but only Linux admin can access folders

I've got a Samba server running on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and the shared folder appears along with other networked computers on PCs and Macs. However, when trying to access said folder from a PC/Mac, the...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10, now laptop will not resume after lid closed

Forgot to mention: I had clean-installed 13.x a while back, too. Same problem. I think it's something to do with newer incarnations of the OS.
  9. [ubuntu] Re: Upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10, now laptop will not resume after lid closed

Need to bump this post. After a clean install/downgrade to 12.04 LTS in the spring, I finally upgraded to 14.04 LTS...and now I've got the same lid problem again. Has anyone else run into this...

    [ubuntu] Re: GnuTLS vulnerability

    Thanks! I'm seeing
status unpacked libgnutls26 2.12.14-5ubuntu3.7 yesterday as the most recent entry for that package. Is that correct?

    [ubuntu] GnuTLS vulnerability

I read this article on Ars Technica, and I'm wondering if the problem was patched/fixed on Ubuntu 12.04. I haven't found a solid answer to this anywhere.
  14. [ubuntu] Upgraded from 13.04 to 13.10, now laptop will not resume after lid closed

I'm using an IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad R60. The upgrade went smoothly, but now when I close the lid, the computer will suspend just fine...but will not resume when opened. It just goes to a black screen...
  15. Re: Light Display Manager is a User After 13.10 Upgrade

Still having the same problem here, too. And I can no longer edit lightdm conf to hide the list of users at login.
  16. Re: Light Display Manager is a User After 13.10 Upgrade

I had it appear briefly on my users list, but then after a reboot, it was gone. Weird.
  17. [ubuntu] Re: Upgraded desktop from 13.04 to 13.10, now cannot login

Just tried that, still getting the same unusable login screen.

    UPDATE:

Think I fixed the problem: I had lightdm.conf customized that the login screen would NOT show a list of users. Once I took...
  18. [ubuntu] Upgraded desktop from 13.04 to 13.10, now cannot login

The upgrade went smoothly, but after it was completed and the PC restarted, there is nowhere for me to enter my username or password on the login screen. At first, it was just empty (save for the...

[ubuntu] Dropbox and Ubuntu 13.10...solved yet?

I've heard all over the web that Dropbox no longer works properly in 13.10. Has this been resolved yet? I've love to upgrade, but I use Dropbox all the time for personal and business use.
  21. [ubuntu] Formatting external HD as HFS+ journaled with GUID partition table (GPT)

    Sounds good. Thanks!
  23. Installed VVVVVV on 11.10, but it is missing.

I installed VVVVVV from its .deb file, and Ubuntu Software Center says it's installed and ready...but how can I run it? The dashboard does not list it, even when I search for it by name.
