i ran in though the program using the console Ctrl-Alt-F2 and still got the error that i was running on X server.

I have Nivdia Geforce 8600m GT

i am using the package "NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.09-pkg2.run"
but after using the "sudo -i" and i launch the file using the terminal, i get an error.

you MUST do these steps if ur using Ubuntu 8.04
it will not run unless u do some modifications.

BEFORE you do anything shake must be in its directory;...

yeah chmod a+x was a no go.

it seems ALOT of ppl are having issues,
even a fellow student and i, unknowingly, where runing tandem with this app.

same errors same nonsense.

getting out of it now is wonderful, lol.

i tried using ./shake
it gave me,
./shake: Permission denied

I figured as much, but u guys where alot of help.
understand this OS is getting easier and easier.

im sure ill have more questions about commands, but thats another day.

i would like to install the compositing application Shake 4.1 or 4.0, both i believe are for linux, I'm a Visual Effect student, but considering most forums and their intolerance toward pirated...
