What are you calling "latest version"? From where are you downloading the driver?

Installing software is generally easy if you stick to what is available in the repos. Drivers, on the other...

Re: ubuntu 19.10 RV710 AMD Radeon HD 4550

    Just an explanatory note:

The kernel now includes the modules for the open source Radeon driver and the AMDGPU driver. The latter does not support your card. The former does.

    When you install...
  5. Re: ideas to how to use a old busted up laptop.

I once used one to make a large-format electronic picture frame. I could even run video loops. I have one based on an R Pi right now and that works like a champ.

    I've seen things like mirrors...
  6. [ubuntu] Re: In 2020, which supports linux better - AMD or Intel?

I agree about laptops. Intel/Intel just makes things easier. Intel/AMD and Intel/NVIDIA are a pain and the OEMs have not made hybrid systems easy for Linux users.
  7. Re: DTH vs Streaming ....What are you using and why ?

Satellite for TV. Ubifi for the web from an AT&T tower 8.3 miles away. Luckily we are on a hill with line of site to the tower in the valley. With a Yagi antenna I get about 30Mbps. Way less than...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: In 2020, which supports linux better - AMD or Intel?

Both are well-supported, with this caveat: Brand new technology is always potentially problematic until the kernel is updated.

I have machines with both and have no problems at all with either.

Re: Why is a package manager not preinstalled?

What it comes down to is this: Canonical decides what they think is important to include in the default installation for whatever reasons they have to make that decision. What other distributors...

  11. [ubuntu] Re: Installing AMD 7670M Drivers on HP Pavallion g6 on Ubuntu 18.04

You do not need to "find a driver". It is part of the Linux kernel.

There are currently two drivers for AMD products: The open source Radeon driver and the open source AMDGPU driver...

  13. Re: Could someone PLEASE fix this BUG in the Ubuntu/LUKS boot process?

    Hello.

Nobody here works for Canonical, so we are in no position to address bugs. I suggest you report the bug, if you think it is one, at https://launchpad.net or use the built-in bug reporting...

  15. [ubuntu] Re: Connecting a VM to second NIC in KVM (Virtual Machine Manager)

When you set up the VM, you can choose its NIC directly. Just make sure you don't use the one dedicated to your host.

I have 13 VMs on this machine with 1 spare NIC on the mobo and 3 4-port NIC...

Mint is derived from Ubuntu, but it is a separate distribution. While a solution to your problem may be similar to Ubuntu, there may be nuances that make this sub-forum a better...

[SOLVED] Re: Trying to remove the AMD drivers from 19.10

First, uninstall the NVIDIA driver. I'm not familiar with NVIDIA of late, so I'm not sure how to do that.

Then let's see if the uninstall script exists and try running that.

    sudo...

[SOLVED] Re: Trying to remove the AMD drivers from 19.10

I don't know that the problem is that it is not an LTS. I doubt that matters. AMDGPU would have been in the kernel.

The issue is that you tried to add AMDGPU from the AMD site rather than just...
