I have been reading most of this thread trying to establish my WPA connection with a static IP. looking at everything it seems great and as if it is connected, but it will not access any internet...
  2. [kubuntu] Re: roll back to broadcom B43 from broadcom STA

Thanks, I just actually ran the first snippet to try out the STA... it renamed my wlan to eth, but it still allows me to scan... otherwise I really see no difference so far. I think I am going to...
  3. [kubuntu] Re: roll back to broadcom B43 from broadcom STA

Just a follow up to close the topic...

I deactivated the STA driver through the hardware drivers menu option and restarted, and it showed no wlan cards as it normally does. I connected up to the...

[kubuntu] Re: "Cannot start purple's D-bus"

I don't get any error messages anymore, just most things that use dbus don't seem to work too well honestly. Originally the error message just said that "Purple's D-bus failed to start".

    I am just...

[kubuntu] Re: "Cannot start purple's D-bus"

Didn't get any feedback on it - just put in the su pw and then went to the next line.

Is there a place you can suggest just to read up on it or anything? I've looked around but everytime I find...

[ubuntu] Re: Did a recent update break wireless?

I have been at my friends house for the past week and tried to get on their internet (with a mess of a failure of a result - darn you WPA2) and I assumed it was from messing with my settings. But I...
  15. [kubuntu] Re: Switched to KDE and upgraded to heron - can't connect wired/wireless anymore

Any thoughts? I've read around but can't seem to find anybody who is in the same boat as myself. When I use ipdown or anything it complains of a missing main file =(.
  16. [kubuntu] Re: Switched to KDE and upgraded to heron - can't connect wired/wireless anymore

After reading around some more, I thought it would help to tell you that network manager isn't even seeing any devices. It is just saying no connected device.

I had a rough time connecting with gnome originally, but after a lot of messing with it I finally got both the wireless and wired connection to work flawlessly.
