Have you tried viper or evil? I haven't tried either, but I'd be interested to hear from someone who has used both editors what the advantages/disadvantages to such an approach would be (in some...

Open GNU Emacs, type: C-h t - spend a few minutes interactively going through that tutorial. Don't just skip stuff because it seems irrelevant. You'll be comfortable using GNU Emacs after that.
If...
I'm somewhat surprised it hasn't been mentioned, kind of makes sense I suppose, but org-mode is fantastic... The draw back is that it requires emacs, however 10 minutes on the tutorial and you should...
Clean desktop and running emacs.
Hey, hopefully I can be of some help here - though, I don't actually have experience using this extension, so I can't help in setting it up.
But anyway, there is an emacs project called CEDET...
I don't really think you could go wrong with emacs (or vim for that matter, though I don't have any experience with vim).
As far as emacs goes, just spend 5 minutes (give or take?) going through...
Ummm, you can use a mouse with Conkeror just as much as you can use a mouse with, say Chromium.
Conkeror just enables you to be entirely keyboard oriented, if you want. You don't have to enable...
You can use a mouse with Conkeror.
No worries :)
You run C-x C-q (or M-x toggle-read-only) to switch between "read-only" and "write" permissions.
Depending on what you're after, but still, more than likely (though I am not really a programmer, per se, I am fairly comfortable with emacs and do have some experience programming in it. I do...
How good is Conkeror.
It's still in the repos for 10.04 (and presumably 10.10). It wouldn't be for later versions most probably because no one has tested it, made sure it works and committed to...
Yeah, I wasn't really saying you had to learn emacs to use this method, sort of just "proof-of-concept" so to speak.
I was really just saying I think it works well for me.
I do this with a graduate student in computer science (I am in the humanities). We both use emacs and (as sujoy suggested) just use org-mode to export to PDF when we want to view the final document...
Check out GNU Readline.
The Logical Basis of Metaphysics by Michael Dummett. Pretty good, but he's incredibly verbose.
Aww, I wish we could see the results, I wonder who the third stumpwm user is :D
Hehe, well thank you :)
If you remember though, I actually sent you a message regarding stump, just before I started using it!
I'm not a programmer (I'm actually a PhD candidate in philosophy),...
stumpwm
As F.G. suggested, you'll want to look into some metaphysics for sure - ontology and modality in particular - Russell's bundle theory provides a metaphysical basis for object-oriented programming,...
Hehehe, well I would have said gutterslob was the definitive source, and I was kind of surprised he hasn't posted anything here - but it appears that on UF he really only posts in the screenshot...
Hehehe, although ninjaaron is a definitive source on this matter (as is gutterslob), I'll just throw "stumpwm" into the mix.
It's written in common lisp (and modifications can be done...
Just a simple stumpwm setup. Nothing too impressive. I've tried to make the whole thing have a sort of zenburn look, which I feel I've pretty much done (I don't have the mode-bar turned on for...
I'm finding Conkeror very good at the moment (and have been using it for the past year or so).
That said, I don't really need much out of a web browser, so basically anything would suffice.
Have you checked out org-mode for emacs?
In particular, the built-in table editor. It doesn't look fantastic, but it gets the job done.
