[ubuntu] Re: Keyring did not get unlocked

I've had this happen with Chrome web browser myself, it's just an issue with Chromium-based browsers apparently. Probably caused by a recent update to Chromium. It's nothing to worry about, just...
  2. Re: Love Ubuntu; HP 2000 Laptop Screen Slowly Blinks Out

If it works fine when you first start up Ubuntu it is most likely the hardware at fault - either a bad connection or an overheating problem with the display.

    Re: Hard Drive Issue

You could bookmark the drive and then set it not to show, that way you would get direct access through the bookmark.

    Re: Hard Drive Issue

The lost+found folder is used during file system checks as a temporary location for files. Deleting it won't really cause any problems, but the system will just recreate it eventually any way.

    Re: Hard Drive Issue

When you mounted the drive with the Disks utility it mounted it at /media/machinicsnob/18a5d1bb-26ac-437e-bb69-1b83aca17e0e, so that's the uuid that needs to be in fstab...

    [SOLVED] Re: pulling hair out

The boot loader that linux installs is Grub, it's (by default) a black screen with white text. A blue "choose os" screen is the Windows boot loader. So, you're system is loading the Windows boot...
  7. [UbuntuGnome] Re: USB Mouse all of a sudden acting weird

I think this a Logitech issue. I've had Logitech mice (as in more than one) before that had the same (intermittent) problems you describe. I tried several "fixes" (which I can't even remember) and...
  8. Re: Memory and Swap Memory showing different totals

Swap space is a separate partition of the hard drive and can be any size, memory refers to the actual ram. I don't know about this being a 32 bit issue, my laptop has 4 gb of ram - I have both 64...
  9. Re: Memory and Swap Memory showing different totals

Have you tried running a live dvd/usb of another distro and checking how much it sees? That might help narrow down whether this a software or hardware issue.

[ubuntu] Re: How to multiboot ubuntu

If you plan on shrinking the existing windows partition to make room for the new partitions, you MUST use Windows to do that (or else it might not boot). After doing that it will leave unallocated...
  11. Re: Memory and Swap Memory showing different totals

I'd guess either bad ram (which can tested with memtest from grub), or your system has reserved a portion of ram for video memory (which you can check for in bios).
  12. Re: Problem with mouse scroll driving me crazy.

Is it a usb mouse or one of the older ps/2 ones? If usb, did you try a different port?

[SOLVED] Re: best size of ext4 partition 14.04.3

Clonezilla can not, by default, restore an image to a smaller drive/partition (regardless of actual used space). It's technically possible, but I've never gotten it to work reliably. Best to make a...

[lubuntu] Re: Old Version of Firefox

For a machine that old I would recommend the latest Lubuntu, Peppermint, or Puppy Linux. As for a web browser, you'll probably need either Midori or Seamonkey. Pale Moon web browser might work...
  15. [SOLVED] Re: installing nvida driver fail for a server?

You can't install those from the desktop. Do ctrl-alt-f1 and at the prompt log in to your account. Then type sudo service gdm stop (or lightdm, kdm, mdm, whatever you're using). Then you can cd...

[SOLVED] Re: Can Not Open Terminal In 14.04

Try setting the keyboard shortcut to something else, there may be some other application that might be conflicting with it.
  17. Re: HP Photosmart 5515 will not print out full page

Does it do the same thing when connected to usb? If you haven't already try a direct usb connection and disable it's wifi connection. This will at least help to narrow down the problem.

[SOLVED] Re: help with main menu

You have two monitors connected, right? If that is the case, what you are seeing is the "smaller" monitor's image being stacked on top of the "bigger" monitor. Go to your monitor/display settings...

    Re: No GUI after uugrade

It shouldn't matter if you do it before or after. "xserver-xorg" should be the only one you need to lock, it wouldn't hurt anything to lock the hardware variants (so, if in doubt, you can safely...

    Re: After installation error

Make sure you disable Windows fast boot before installing Ubuntu. This may have something to do with your current problem, but even if it isn't the cause now it will cause problems later.

    Re: No GUI after uugrade

  24. [xubuntu] Re: Does Thunar have an option to navigate right pane as a tree

Re: Need to know the basics
