    I am trying to get name based virtual hosts all running on HTTPS (port 443) so I can run multiple sites on the one IP.

    The DocumentRoot needs to be different for each host.

    You also need to make sure the ports are changed in ports.conf under NameVirtualHost and Listen. You also need to change it in /sites-available/default at the top.

    You don't need a huge server for just a home media server. (I am running mine off a 6 year old laptop) It works just fine on average hardware.

    I could access my entire server from anywhere in the world, it is just a matter of being able to set up the relevant services and forwarding ports.
