  1. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

Unfortunately, adding that line in NetworkManager.conf and rebooting doesn't solve it. I still cannot scan and see networks, and thus cannot connect to even a WPA2-AES network...
  2. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

I'll try all of this tomorrow, didn't have much time to fiddle around with it today - thanks for the hints!
The AP that uses PEAP is not under my command (was delivered by ISP), and is the one I'm...
  3. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

Oh, check - will do that and report.

Oh, nice. It is a weird case - I'm not too bad with troubleshooting myself and usually can get to the root of the problem myself, but this is a weird one

  4. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

Yes, NM runs just fine without a GUI. Remember, when I boot with the 4.8 kernel, both my ethernet and wifi connection immediately get an IP.
The no_hw_rfkill_switch=Y is already on in ath5k.conf.

  5. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

My apologies. Here's an updated output.

    The result voor those is:

  7. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

Well, that unblocking got solved by adding the
options ath5k no_hw_rfkill_switch=Y to the conf file, but the card still doesn't seem to be working. Iwlist scan gives no results, while it does when...
  8. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

This is the output of that:

    jeroen@hitchens:~$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/ath5k.conf
    options ath5k nohwcrypt=1
    options ath5k no_hw_rfkill_switch=Y
    jeroen@hitchens:~$ lsmod

  9. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

The BIOS Is a very basic one (only time / boot priority settings), but I've reset it to default - to no avail.
  10. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

    (whoops double post)

    - but thanks for the research man, really appreciate it.

If I blacklist the acer_wmi module though, it also stops working on the older kernel, so I reverted that.
  11. Re: Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

Did all that - thanks for the suggestions.
Still no wifi - it is listed as hard blocked.

  12. Wifi adapter stops working after upgrade to 4.10

I have a Ubuntu Server installation on a Fujitsu Amilo laptop. The laptop is headless and sits in the basement, connecting to the network by wifi.
In Xenial (Kernel 4.8.x), wifi worked perfectly....
  13. [all variants] Re: BCM43225 and limitation UK/Europe Channels 12/13

Hi there. Spent ages debugging this. I recently changed my AP's channel to 13 (busy neighbourhood), and poof, it was gone from the iwlist scan.

I have the same Broadcom chip as the OP. (On a Dell...

[ubuntu] Re: Problems with Creative Zen

Here's what I do to get my Zen working:

    Plug it in
Ubuntu recognizes it and mounts it
UNMOUNT it (right clik on desktop -> unmount), but keep it plugged in
    Start gnomad
    gnomad mounts it again,...

Yep, very similar to my problem:

Also fixed it by switching to FTP. I did disable my router's firewall, though.
