I just received my Acer 1810T laptop today, I'm excited to install 10.04 on it!!....but before I do, I have a question about whether or not I should update the BIOS via windows.
I read the first...

Wow, that was simple; I should've known. Thanks!
I did the same thing; I've resolved it except for the fact that my window list (for example, a firefox window) is positioned somewhere near the middle of the panel. Is there a way to move the window...
Does anybody have any advice? Thanks!
Hey imdano, thanks for the quick response.
I tried it using this technique - I first replaced the /etc/init.d/wicd file with your text, then removed the wicd.prerm file, and finally chose to...
Hi, I've read the link from the post above mine, and I'm still unclear on one point. During the upgrade process, will choosing not to keep any of the previous scripts avoid this whole problem? It...
Yea, after coming back to the site a few times, I've noticed it only happens on some occasions. Strange. I'll consider my CPU usage the next time it happens.
Thanks for the tip. It works really well on my desktop and most applications. However, I noticed that the fonts on some areas of the Ubuntu forums are now warped! Has anyone had this happen before?

More than a few people have experienced the same problem, check out the thread below for possible solutions. It worked for me.

Good luck.
I've been using it since I've upgraded to 8.04 from 7.10, and it works well for the most part, but I have encountered some occasional problems.
For instance, sometimes the tray icon will freeze...

With the command-line install, are you shown what will be removed first? I.E., will it remove firefox without asking me first? (Or perhaps that's what you want to find out?!?)
Thanks for your response! I ended up using Synaptic to upgrade firefox to 3.0, that took care of everything in one fell swoop. Apparently I can only have either yelp or firefox 3.0, and not both.
I marked 'xulrunner-1.9' for installation, but in order to do this it wants to remove both yelp and Ubuntu-desktop, which doesn't seem like a good idea...hmm...stuck here!
Sorry for the repeated...
Hm, this seems to be some sort of dependency issue with yelp. When I attempt to upgrade my system (which is up to date, as far as I can tell), I get a message

I came across the same problem with my m1330. After following the instructions given on the first page of this thread, everything seems to be working fine. Thanks!
