Nobody else getting:
This resulted in the following for me:
then starting dropbox through the menu, then
Ended up using SSHdroid to connect via wifi network, per a suggestion from a chap on Reddit. Not an ideal situation though - leaving this open in case anyone knows any more.

interesting, thanks efflandt. No joy at my end: nothing in gvfs.
Weirdly, music is also an empty folder whether I mount as mtp or ptp. I can't for the life of me understand whose changed what in...
Hey Tom, did you have a chance to plug 'er in and see if the pics apppeared? Cheers!
ah, I didn't in the command, that's just how the failure message prints out.
bash: cd: mtp://[usb:002,004]/: No such file or directory :(
So yeah, odd. If I right click on it in thunar it gives me an "unmount" option...
When I connect my Nexus 5 to either my laptop or desktop (both xubuntu 15.10) either in MTP or PTP, the DCIM folder is empty, except for the .thumbnails folder (it's not a hidden files problem) which...
Thanks Toz, stupid of me not to think to look in Geeqie specifically. I guess (wrongly) that it was a systemwise thing.
Sorry if this has been asked before, it didn't turn up in 2 searches & the 'check if already posted' thing didn't work for me, oddly. Anyway, should be simple but I'm not sure how to do it, or even...
I don't suppose you know how to solve this if one uses the applications menu rather than the whisker menu?
(it's through this search that i've found out there are two options, which removes my...
i have the same thing. i've recently added a load of rhythmbox plugs and google music, which is uploading loads of songs - do you use either?
did you ever get this sorted? it does seem counterintuitive
probably too late now & will never get seen but:
any idea if this is possible in xubuntu? i've looked in settings and can't find any reference to indexing preferences...
Will otherwise have a go...
I know this is an old thread but I'd really appreciate if someone with more experience/knowledge could eyeball my problem and suggest any tips if they think of them.
I set up WOL as per...
thanks for this.
Seems grub's on sdb1 (sata drive 2, ubuntu) as i expected based on boot-repair asking whether that drive & only that drive was an external one.
Hi guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to continue this problem-solve mission - if so please say so (& ideally where I should go). If someone can help me out here i'd be really grateful.
It doesn't hang, it just takes... forever, like 2+ hours. It completed fine and I ran chkdsk last night so I guess we'll see how the chips have fallen!
i guess (hopefully not too much more) time will tell!
re: backup - so although it doesn't show up in grub thus doesn't boot, it'll mount fine (not automatically at ubuntu boot tho) and i can...
cheers Fred. No abnormalities in shutdowns etc on ubuntu so i'll assume it's the windows disc & give chkdsk a go from the recovery console on the xp disc.
The errant XP disc can be mounted in ubuntu...
I don't know if this warrants a new thread but i'm happy to make one if so.
Boot repair seems to take AGES, running either from LiveCD or direct from Ubuntu. It's probably been going at...
gave up & upgraded to 12.10, and both keyboard & mouse are working.
unlike a number of other things but that's the nature of upgrading: one huge step forward, one million tiny reversible steps...
problem then is that my mouse isn't recognised....!
Any thoughts? My assumption is that the keyboard ALSO isn't recognised without xorg.conf but the mouse is the most obvious bit...
going to mark as solved, problem continuing at:
