Pop-OS is not Ubuntu but based on Ubuntu.
If it really has an ntfs filesystem on it you will need to attach it to a Windows OS and run chkdisk on it, something that is impossible to do using Linux utilities.

In order to see the grub menu it is much easier to show it every boot but for only 2 seconds by editing as root /etc/default/grub changing the config lines as shown.

I've not used calamares as I personally don't like either Lubuntu or Kubuntu which use it (nothing else does, correct?) so I've not tested them.

This problem is seen more often on systems where non-standard repos have been enabled, such as those from third party organisations, or maybe PPAs so you can install newer versions of some packages....

It sounds as if you are running the live session of Ubuntu from the disk on which you want to install Ubuntu.
Even if you choose a separate partition to install Ubuntu I am not sure if it is...
