As the CPU I want does not have integrated graphics it will need a GPU that works out of the box with 20.04...
The HP 24fw worked out of the box.
I did check that my graphics card could produce the 1920 x 1080 resolution before buying.

I once had the same problem after an update. It was solved by doing a cold reboot. That's totally removing all power for a minute or 2 before booting
