    [all variants] Re: MacBookAir4,1 & MacBookAir4,2 (MBA 2011) support

Thanks for the tips, power usage comes down to 9-10 watts by adding i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 to the kernel command-line. Haven't tried the sparse irq kernel config. The phoronix article suggests...

    [all variants] Re: MacBookAir4,1 & MacBookAir4,2 (MBA 2011) support

Just checking in to say that Oneiric seems to be running well on my air too. Not surprising, the 1440x900 hack works with the Samsung display in my laptop. The post-install script made configuration...

    [all variants] Re: MacBookAir4,1 & MacBookAir4,2 (MBA 2011) support

    I'll kick in another $50.

Yesterday my display slowly went wild after a resume from suspend. It seems even 1280x800 on the samsung display has occasional problems.

    Agree with others about the...

    [all variants] Re: MacBookAir4,1 & MacBookAir4,2 (MBA 2011) support

I've been playing with getting power usage down using suggestions from powertop. So far the lowest I've been able to achieve is about 7.7 watts. This is with a fully dimmed screen, not running any...

It's an i5. I just tried setting video=LVDS-1:1440x900 to no effect.

    I posted my xorg.conf
I'm guessing the xorg.conf may not have much to do with getting 1280x800 since the fb consoles all...

Aha! I seem to have a samsung LCD, along with the 256GB ssd.

    sudo get-edid 2> /dev/null | strings -5
    LTH133BT01A03
    Color LCD

Never occurred to me to try LVDS instead of VGA, I'll give that a...

    [all variants] Re: MacBookAir4,1 & MacBookAir4,2 (MBA 2011) support

Dunno how it happened. Maybe it's the karma I get from having used linux as my main OS for 13 years :)

If I tell the kernel to do 1440x900 with video-VGA-1:1440x900 on the grub commandline I can...

@dfacto: The changes for btusb.c are really simple and you're welcome to contribute them to the linux kernel devs on my behalf and take all the credit. Patch here. One thing I wonder about is...

    [all variants] Re: MacBookAir4,1 & MacBookAir4,2 (MBA 2011) support

Hi all, I just received a (shiny, new) 13" macbook air and have been following the discussion here to get ubuntu running. Many thanks to all of you!

Things are not yet running as well as they...
