After reading some suggestions here and elsewhere, I settled on the Logitech F310 - first game controller I've ever used under Linux.
I've only tried it on two games so far - Trine (not Trine2)...
Thanks very much to everyone! I'll check out all the suggestions here - I really appreciate the responses.
I'm just looking for a no muss, no fuss game controller recommendation that will be recognized appropriately by Ubuntu for games that support it (and any related tips) please! :-)
I have seen...
I'm making a more serious stab at using KDE4 than I have in the past, so I'm not really sure how things *should* work in some cases.
Case in point - I have changed through a few different icon...
Thanks both of you! :-)
Oh hell.
What I did NOT notice (originally found the thread in a google search) is that this is in the Ubuntu +1 forum.
I think we've maybe been talking past each other. :) I never wanted 3.9. I was concerned about any known issues adding the staging PPA (as opposed to just the Gnome3 PPA).
Already had this one:...
For the record, adding the staging PPA did NOT upgrade me to 3.9 -- not sure if that was your implied message or not, but in case anyone else read it that way I wanted to point it out.
It also...
^^ I didn't notice there were 3.9 packages in the staging PPA, whoops -- OK then in that case I'll do without it... (Could swear I checked that though -- will go back and look again.)
I've already upgraded Ubuntu Gnome to 3.8 (very nice Ubuntu GNOME team and GNOME devs) using the GNOME Team PPA -- but I noticed I'm missing the privacy settings from the system settings dialogue,...
Exactly the same problem when I decided to try out 13.04 Gnome in a VM today. (For the express purpose of seeing what extensions would still be available to me after upgrading to 3.8 + making sure...
How are you trying to install it?
1.8 via PPA on 13.04 worked fine for me as described here.

I think that you have...
Is there anything extra that most folks are having to do? Following the instructions has not seemed to result in a working service for me.
I have installed, agent is running, it shows in my tray....
Sheesh. You know the first "P" in PPA stands for "Personal", right?
Developers and advanced users maintain these for their own use, and/or as a graciously provided resource for the rest of us, so...
Ok, I got it.
If the OP problem is the same as mine, somehow root owns /home/yourusername/.cache/thumbnails
So you just have to do this:
sudo chown -R yourusername:yourusername...
I don't think that's what the OP talking about. I have the exact same problem, regardless of settings.
I hadn't thought to try opening as root, but did so just now, and sure enough I get...
Great, thanks for the info! I've been intending to install via the site, not by package anyway, so this is perfect. I didn't know about the "Obsolete" label on the Installed page at the site, and...
I just added the gnome-team ppa last night and did the upgrade -- I'm familiar with this workaround so I'll see if it resurrects a lot of my extensions.
A more general question though if you don't...
I haven't done it -- I just want to know *how* to do it. :-)
Eventually I probably will, but so far being on Precise is not causing me any difficulty.
Thanks for the info!
I've only been using it 12 hours and I already agree with you.
I love it -- really. They have hit my personal sweet spot with regard to where things are located and how they work. So although...
I've only been using Elementary for about 12 hours (love it) but one of the first things I did was config plank for intellihide. It's right there in the desktop section of system settings.
Does...
I have to admit that as they currently stand I don't really see the point of the webapps.
I was wondering why I couldn't find much online about them until I experienced them. Then I understood...
Ah OK then. So it sounds like the lenses are working as intended, and the problem is that I misunderstood the intent.
Thanks!!
