[ubuntu] Re: How to determine your IP Address

It doesn't mean his router's web interface is internet-facing. Mine certainly isn't, but if I try going to http://my-external-ip-address I end up there.

Actually it all depends on where's he's...

[ubuntu] Re: How to determine your IP Address

When users on the internet go to that IP, they will go to your server (assuming you have forwarded ports correctly). The rules are a bit different in your internal network - as you've discovered...
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 server - locks up after 10 min without monitor

Still going? I guess we've found our problem. Luckily modesetting serves no function at all on a headless server, so at least it's a pain-free fix :p
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 server - locks up after 10 min without monitor

That's kernel modesetting. nomodeset should disable it, which will hopefully let us know if it's causing the problem.
  5. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 server - locks up after 10 min without monitor

inf0c0m, could you try adding nomodeset to the bootstring in grub?
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 server - locks up after 10 min without monitor

Looking through this thread it seems like everybody affected is running some kind of P4 (2.4-2.8GHz) with onboard Intel graphics. Is that right? Can anyone else contribute?

    I have a Dell Optiplex...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 server - locks up after 10 min without monitor

Headless just means that it doesn't have any forms of input/output other than the network. A headless box usually just has a power cable and a network cable plugged into it and everything is done...
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 9.10 server - locks up after 10 min without monitor

Confirming the same problem. System is a Dell Optiplex P4 2.4 with Intel 82845G graphics. Fresh install of 9.10 server. It freezes after 7-9 minutes running headless, but is stable for hours with a...
  9. Re: HOWTO: enable 3d acceleration w/ Rage Mobility (mach64)

    allio@zinger:~ $ lsmod | grep mach64
    mach64 57888 0
    drm 72536 1 mach64

    This appears to be wrong.

I can't actually for the life of me work out if my...
  10. Re: HOWTO: enable 3d acceleration w/ Rage Mobility (mach64)

Ok, how did you get around that error? I hope you didn't have to actually recompile the kernel :(
  11. Re: HOWTO: enable 3d acceleration w/ Rage Mobility (mach64)

Bumping for ankitmalik because I have the same problem :D

EDIT: On closer inspection, upgrading to x.org is mandatory.

    I'll give that a go.
