So I tried out fluxbuntu for my Toshiba 320CDS (233MHz, 96MB RAM) and it's acutally quite snappy. I did run into some trouble with my Wifi (3com Office Connect 11g - prism54) but after fiddling...
I've edited that info now and it's as you can see it's only at 233 MHz.
Perhaps I should look into fluxbuntu, or do a server install and build it to my own needs.
