muhkayoh, You appear to have the correct USB device ID so I think the device has been installed properly.
What's the output of aplay -l? If the MobilePre is listed there then it's a valid audio...

No problem. Better user error than something worse!
How is the midi (e.g. the keyboard) on the Ozone being handled? It's been a while since I've checked any of the Ozone threads. Last I checked...
Have you modified the madfuload udev rules as described in this thread?
What you are seeing is normal. When you boot into Windows the firmware is being loaded and by rebooting without powering...
bschultzjames, with the MobilePre plugged into a working USB port and the power on, what does the following command return?
lsusb
Edit: by power on, confirm you have power to the unit with...
Is it a pulseaudio issue? It's totally borked the audio on my system so I just kill it (system mainly used for recording and some light browsing) and rely on my programs interfacing with ALSA...
Have you looked at any of the pulse audio guides? Sounds like you have a sound issue rather than a soundcard issue (since you are getting some sound).
Not sure what your asking because the MobilePre works just like any other card. Just select it as your sound device and away you go.
Have you seen the howto post? It only applies to older versions...
What have you tried so far? What version of Ubuntu are you running (7.04, 7.10, 8.04...)? First suggestion, did you try selecting the card in the sound properties?
It helps if you post at the...
Haven't gotten around to having this work completely but I'm close. I used this as the basis for integrating my mythtv setup with Amarok. I'll be using the remote to start it up, play, pause, skip...
If not directly helping, glad I could provide the encouragement :KS
I feel your jubilation/agony. I've been working on it off and on for months with two different receivers and realized last night...
I'd never seen that manufacturer ID so I had to check it out (Pinnacle Systems, Inc. [hex]).
Which lead me to this:

What's "cheap"? :)
Lot's of people like the Mac Mini's. Can use an OSX front end or install Mythbuntu etc. I don't have any experience with them.
For your card question, I'd probably go with...
I have it working on a Debian Etch system. I'll try to help.
What does 'lsusb' return?
Is this how you installed LIRC?

Where is your...
I've seen a few posts around on this as well but sorry, I don't know the answer. Try asking your question on the LIRC mailing list.
Rather than upgrade Sarge->Etch you might wait a couple months...
MythTV, IMO, is not the most suitable application for picture and music management. It is however, one of only a couple applications that I know of that is fully operational by a remote for music...
See if this thread helps. The binary stopped working for me after gutsy upgrade but has been working since after doing the described steps. The linux install has definitely been neglected since...
See Hamachi. It's a low-config VPN server/client software that does secure tunnelling. Works through some firewalls (depending on how strict) and most routers. Best to checkout the forums for...
Vinyl never really went away. Audiophiles and the cool kids kept it alive. CD audio is technically a superior format. In theory CD audio will support a wider dynamic range. However, in the last 2 or...
See the capture card support articles on the mythtv wiki. There are many well documented cards that should just work. Some of the wiki entries have old information or information specific to other...
So if I understand you correctly if you can hear it, you want to be able to record it?
What is your 'old' card? It probably comes down to available features/drivers for the different...
Not really answering your questions because it is MythTV based but did you know about Mythbuntu? The Ubuntu distribution that makes MythTV easier[?]. I've done my own install on a Debian Etch machine...
Here's Tom's Hardware relative comparison chart going all the way back to the ATI Rage and the NVidia TNT. They update this list pretty often.

In this case you're better off with the NVidia card. I had read that there are some proprietary IP in the X1### ATI cards that is preventing those cards (i.e. X1200, X1900) from benefiting from the...
I hadn't heard of ACL previously so thought I'd post explaining my thought process on why file access with uid:gid probably isn't enough and the tutorial that helped me make sense of ACL.
My...
The real truth is likely something in between. NVidia still has the best driver performance for most cards when compared to the equivalent ATI. I believe this is still true.
Per Markbuntu's post...
