  1. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

I could still use some help with this. Or should I just install 12.10? Will the Atheros drivers ever just be included by default?
  2. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

    Bump?
  3. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

What about it? I can connect reliably on my ubuntu 12.10 partition.
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

    grahammechanical,

I am fairly certain this is a driver issue. From what I've read, you shouldn't use a driver version below what your kernel version is (from the compat-wireless page:

  5. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

In case it matters, my connection is WPA encrypted. I have no problems connecting to it from my 12.10 partition or my win8 partition.
  6. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

    praseodym, thanks for your reply.

    I tried what you said.

The output of the commands is as follows:

    $ echo "options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf...
  7. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

I'm about 100% sure it's not a router or ISP problem. On the same computer on a windows 8 partition and an ubuntu 12.10 partition everything works fine.
  8. [ubuntu] Re: Intel / 13.04 / Lenovo Y580 / Wireless & Wired Connection Issue

    Bump.

Could anybody give me some place to start at least? Would installing an earlier version of the driver help?

    Chili555,

I've been using your instructions for getting the alx driver to work for about 2 months now, and it has, up until today, worked for me every time I've needed it.

    I am back.

For whatever reason with 10.10 installed the problem is gone. This still kind of sucks because 10.10 isn't supported any more, but for the time being at least my machines are both...
