  1. [SOLVED] Re: Cross-terminal-emulator way to set terminal title in bash/ksh script?

Turns out I was at least in part blocked by my .bashrc being a modification of standard Ubuntu bashrc, which contains this code -

    # If this is an xterm set the title to user@host:dir
    case "$TERM"...
  2. Re: VIM - need configure .vimrc to filter/map out (nop?) a key on my keyboard (F1)

    Did you try this? -

    nmap <F1> <nop>
Works for me in Vim and GVim on 18.04.
  3. [SOLVED] Re: Cross-terminal-emulator way to set terminal title in bash/ksh script?

Zenity is great for giving a script some GUI, I have some convenience scripts that use it similar to how that blog link describes. But in this case adding GUI elements would not do the job.
  4. [SOLVED] Re: Cross-terminal-emulator way to set terminal title in bash/ksh script?

Thanks for your help kneutron! I now got something good enough for me.

    To sum up:

    1) Take advantage of KONSOLE_VERSION environment variable to detect Konsole. If using Konsole, just use the...
  5. [SOLVED] Re: Cross-terminal-emulator way to set terminal title in bash/ksh script?

Thanks kneutron, that almost solves this problem. I can make it work if I run the script using a .desktop file with Terminal=true, which is what I need now. But there are two issues:

    1) When I...
  6. [SOLVED] Cross-terminal-emulator way to set terminal title in bash/ksh script?

This code works in Konsole -

    echo -e -n "\033]30;Custom Title\007"
But it doesn't work in xfce4-terminal, or any other terminal emulator that I've tried? And I can't find a code that does?

    Re: ubuntu-edu

I'm suggesting you use that information to decide whether you need any bionic packages at all.

As the ubuntu-edu* packages are meta-packages, installing their dependencies manually provides...

    Re: ubuntu-edu

They are meta-packages, so you could look them up on packages.ubuntu.com to see their dependencies, then individually apt-get install the packages they depend on that you want.
  11. Re: 20.04 NetworkManager How to autoconnect to specific hidden Wi-Fi network?

Hmm. I have now installed Xubuntu 20.04 on two other computers that have Wi-Fi, and this problem did not exist in either case. So this is either related to my specific hardware/drivers, or it's...

[SOLVED] Re: How do I invoke pikopixel?

In Synaptic, select the package and click Properties, then go to Installed files. Does that provide helpful hint?

If it's this package, try PikoPixel (case-sensitive).
  13. [SOLVED] Re: ImageMagick 7.0.10-23: 'magick' not working properly

If you want this to persist, you need to add it to ~/.profile in the same way as the existing additions to PATH there are done -

    # set PATH so it includes user's custom ImageMagick bin if it...
  14. [SOLVED] Re: ImageMagick 7.0.10-23: 'magick' not working properly

Assuming you put the magick binary at $HOME/Software/ImageMagick/magick , you'd need to do

    export PATH="$HOME/Software/ImageMagick:$PATH"
  15. [SOLVED] Re: ImageMagick 7.0.10-23: 'magick' not working properly

By what method? Could you please share all the details of how you did it?

If you edited ~/.bashrc or ~/.profile, did you log out and back in?

Just to confirm, is it listed if you run -

    echo...

    Does

    ./magick -version
    work (without sudo)?

Did you add the directory containing the actual magick binary to your PATH ?

  20. [SOLVED] Re: Dependency problem on trying to compile FFmpeg

    Ok, then try -

  21. [SOLVED] Re: Dependency problem on trying to compile FFmpeg

Yeah, it would. That command was just a simulation. I want to check for side effects before suggesting actually going ahead.

Why do you have the 32-bit version of that library installed?

    If...

    apt-get -s install libsdl2-2.0-0/bionic

[ubuntu] Re: Switch WIFI network from terminal?

If you're using NetworkManager, as is standard for Ubuntu 20.04, have you looked into nmcli ?

There's also nmtui if you don't need to script this.
