  1. [ubuntu] Re: Latest LTS Ubuntu Kernels for AMD64 Keep Breaking

The "Latest LTS Ubuntu Kernels" are the ones in the standard repositories, and you are going some way "off-piste" into relatively uncharted territory by installing the versions you have been using...

[ubuntu] Re: Setting up folders on HDD

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this but I suspect it means that you have not created a link to the Music folder in that data partition.

    Use command
ln -s /mnt/data/Music Music to add a link...
  4. [ubuntu] Re: Unable to install ANY Linux Distro: Black Screen and intermitting cursor stuck!

One possible problem you may now see could stem from the fact that you shrunk the Windows 10 partition using gparted; that could cause Windows to be unbootable in future.
    It is much safer and...
  5. Re: Sound on Firefox not switching to headphones

Make sure you have pulseaudio-volume-control package installed with
    sudo apt install pavucontrol
I thought it was installed by default but perhaps it is not in Ubuntu.

    Re: CTRL + ALT + F7 shortcut

I have Ubuntu-20.10 installed as a VM in KVM and in that Ctrl+Alt+F1 is the login screen, ssdm, Ctrl+Alt+F2 is the GUI, and interestingly Ctrl+Alt+F7 is not a numbered tty but shows just the...

[ubuntu] Re: Setting up folders on HDD

I am totally confused about where exactly you have got to so far, and I think your problem is a result of your lack of understanding of Linix permissions.
Does that partition with the Music folder...

[SOLVED] Re: Delete iso - kvm Machine

I can see no reason for that iso file being necessary in order to run the VM, but is it still showing as present in the IDE cd-rom in the console information?
  11. [ubuntu] Re: install 20.04 on a system running 12.04 in parallel and on two separate hds

As CW says, you should avoid using 12.04 if possible, and as you have the iso for 20.04 already I recommend that you create a USB install disk and then install 20.04 from that.

    I have never...

    Re: CTRL + ALT + F7 shortcut

    Yes, it does us lightdm.

Xubuntu 20.10 also still uses tty7 for the GUI, so I wonder if it's just Ubuntu itself that has changed to anothet tty.

    Re: Ubuntu 21.04 Hirsute Hippo

I have been running a KVM virtual install of Groovy, 20.10 for a while now and just as an experiment I have just upgraded to 21.04 by manually editing /etc/apt/sources.list.

    The upgrade went with,...

[SOLVED] Re: windows10 on home router safety?

There are many Windows users who suggest that Windows Defender (I think that's what it's called) is as good as many other anti-virus programs and that it is better to leave it to do the job itself.

  18. Re: virt-manager 3.2.0 error "Argument 1 does not allow None as a value"

  19. Re: Installation: Ubuntu20.04.1-desktop-amd64 iso fails on sha256sum test

It sounds as if downloading using a torrent client would be a better way for you to get the iso files, particularly if your network is poor.

A torrent client (transmission is the default in all...

    Re: 20.04 issues

It's just Xubuntu 18.04 that loses support in April 2021, not the whole of the Xubuntu flavour; Xubuntu 20.04 has support until 2023, ie, three years from release like all the Xubuntu LTS releases.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this means?

Which version of VirtualBox are you using as host?
Have you tried a different kernel, eg, one of the earlier ones that is probably already on the system, such as 5.4.0-51?
