[ubuntu] Re: HPLIP Does Not Install

After opening the printers dialog, did you click the ADD button? Then it does a search for your printer.

If connected by USB, I would think it should appear in lsusb output. I can't confirm this...

[ubuntu] Re: HPLIP Does Not Install

Have you tried Settings > Printers, where you can add your printer to the system? There is an automatic search for correct driver which is then installed for you.
  3. Re: What is the gsettings schema for Settings > Universal Access > Sounds Keys

Use the Settings Dialog, not dconf-editor:
    Settings > Universal Access > Seeing> Sound Keys > On/Off

To find Settings Dialog, type 'Settings' in overview screen search.

    Re: Package Count

Synaptic Package Manager also informs you of the number of installed packages.
    Ubuntu Gnome 18.04 - 2095 packages installed, 63,933 listed.
Obviously, the number is going to vary.

LXQt desktop is already installed in the default installation. Before logging in, use the session selector on the panel of the login screen. Select "LXQt Desktop" instead of "Openbox".

    Re: Kubuntu

    Your login options should read:

    Ubuntu
    Ubuntu on Wayland
    Plasma

    (It's Wayland, not Maryland)
The first two are the display servers - choosing Ubuntu gives you Ubutu Gnome using Xorg, the 2nd...

Re: trying to record audio from pulseaudio

Clearly you are into something else beyond my comprehension with talk of sinks and such, but I should update the Audacity recording comments:

I'll add this little update on the concerns in post...

    Re: grub2 configuration for multibooting

Just a tip: Most Ubuntu users don't use this syntax. The more common syntax that does the same thing and is easier to remember is sudo update-grub. Try it in the future.

Did you bring those issues up on the Manjaro Forum? They can probably straighten it all out in short order.
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Problems Installing in Oracle VM VirtualBox

That's the beginning screen of the installer without the text content displaying. I've occasionally seen that too. Click inside the vm window and press F1 key and that may move it along.

    Re: grub2 configuration for multibooting

You can make Ubuntu boot on startup by changing the boot order in your UEFI bios. Then on startup you will boot to Ubuntu grub menu from which you can continue booting to Ubuntu, or choose Windows.
