    [ubuntu] Re: nohup: can't close terminal

    To be honest, I don't really know what's wrong with nohup in this case, but I strongly recommend using byobu instead (https://launchpad.net/byobu)

    [all variants] Re: How to compress? Help me if you know

    If most of your data consists of movies, songs and photos, don't bother with compression.

    These are probably already stored in compressed formats, you have nothing to gain.

    [ubuntu] Re: Programs Leaking Memory

    I can confirm this issue on a Dell Optiplex 380 running Kubuntu 10.04. I get swapping although the RAM is far from being exhausted. As a workaround I do this on startup (as root):

    [all variants] Re: Zipping contents of multiple folders

    cd to /home/dir and then try this:

    find -maxdepth 1 -type d -exec zip -r '{}'.zip '{}' \;

    This will output a zip archive for each folder on the first sublevel of /home/dir (note maxdepth=1).
