  3. Re: Develop something in Gnome and try to learn C++?

The original GTK toolkit is written for C, just plain C. Gtkmm just provides a C++ interface to GTK, making things a bit more object-oriented.

Banshee isn't made in C++ actually, it's made in C#.
  4. Re: Chile Earthquake May Have Shortened Days on Earth

It's interesting that an earthquake can change the Earth's entire rotation!
But is there any significant outcome of the shortening? i.e. in the long run?

Re: Kde sc 4.4 is released

This post, I assume? I just came across it before reading your post. Interesting problem and solution, though it's a shame that it won't be included until 4.4.1. It's pretty important for me since I...

Re: Kde sc 4.4 is released

I've been using it for about a day now and I must say it's very very good. The default theme just looks beautiful (right when I thought it couldn't get MORE beautiful). And the Aero-Snap feature was...

    Re: Guayadeque Music Player

I installed from the ppa, and I must say it's pretty good.
    I have 2 suggestions though:
    - Automatically update the library when the library paths change? Not really a big problem but it'd be nice...

    Re: python plugin for eclipse

Indeed there is, PyDev, and it's very good, I use it myself.
You can download it from here, I recommend installing it through eclipse's update manager, as shown in the "Quick Install" section on the...

[SOLVED] Re: Get the position of a QT widget?

    widget->pos();

Basically returns a QPoint that contains the widget's position.

If I understand, you want an image on the button? I believe the button widget already has a function to do that, I...

    Re: Fry's Electronics

Ahh I love Fry's, it's the first place I go whenever I need something computer-related, or to just look at all the wonderful stuff. It has everything! Books, TV's, everything a technology nerd could...
  12. Re: VOTE for OpenOffice to make a full-fledged Web Editor!

IMO, I don't really think OpenOffice would be the "right" place for a WYSIWYG HTML editor...a separate program, maybe. But why not focus on improving an existing program? Instead of adding yet...

    Re: Qt-Creator

Hmmm, actually I'm not quite too sure the exact package where the Oxygen theme is kept. My guess is that it's included in one of the KDE packages.

Amarok, I __believe__, uses settings from KDE,...

    Re: Qt-Creator

Well, your program IS using Qt, it's just using a theme that makes it look like GTK. (or does it let GTK render the widgets? I can't remember) It does this to make everything look more unified.

    Re: Pronunciation of computer terms

An odd one is the pronunciation of Qt. The official pronunciation is the same as 'cute'.
I just say it as Q-T.

Re: Using Python and QT... or PyQT?

The pyuic executable comes separate from the regular PyQt package, it comes in another package (along with some other handy tools) which is pyqt4-dev-tools
So, just install that and you're ready to...

  19. Poll: Re: Do you think that Qt4 is the best toolkit in the world?

In terms of programming, I find Qt better to work with (IMO).
In terms of graphics capabilities (aesthetics), Qt wins me over (IMO).

    Re: Sleeping in?

Well, I was NEVER a morning person, what's there to do in the morning anyways (besides school)? My days (or, should I say, weekends, school days I have to wake up at 6/7) start at 11/12 midday :)
  25. Re: How long did your Karmic Koala Download take

I couldn't tell, I was napping a bit, but I'll guess 1-2 hours, since it was done when I woke up.
