Ok folks, I think I figured it out.
Looks like the atheros cards were affected by a bug in some kernel code. The fix is in the next kernel release. You can either wait for the kernel to be...
Glad to hear you figured it out.
Unfortunately my chipset is different, so that exact solution won't work, but it did point me in another direction I can look, thanks.

Just posting to change the topic name to reflect the driver issue we are having. That way passers by may notice our plight. This card is in other laptops too, not just 1201n's so we may get a few...
I too am having issues with my 1201n.
I believe it has to do with a driver incompatibility with the Atheros AR8132 card. I'm currently trying to research options for us. But I'm hoping someone...
No need to apologize, we all had to learn too.
Looks like you are having issues with an Atheros Card. I too am having some issues with mine but it's a different model. If I see anything on yours...
we just need to know what the output of
lspci
is. That way we can figure out what exact type of network card we are dealing with.
Not a problem. I appreciate any and all help I get.
Do we know if it's been officially released yet?
I too am just curious. I updated the knowledgebase to reflect the fact that starling users should not upgrade. I'd like to know ASAP so I can change it to refect the latest developments.
I've made a quick edit to the Wiki page explaining that Starling users should NOT upgrade. I (or anyone) can change it once the upgrade is supported.

Not trying to be inpatient but is there any news?
Thanks for the head's up. I specifically checked the forums to see if this was a good idea or not.
Oh thank you. I didn't even think about it when I did a Kernel update.
Yes.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
will accomplish the same result as using the update manager.
I just received my starling and I had the same problem. And same solution. I'm not sure about any other way around it.
Fortunately for me, I am a techi so I don't have much problem with it, but I...
While I don't have an N router myself, I believe that you can still connect a b/g card to it.
It's the same as when g came out. A b card could still connect to a g router, but just at b speeds.

Just to make sure you know this. Atom processors do NOT have hardware virtualization support. This means that you're VMware would run, but take a serious performance hit compared to other modern...
Oh, thank you. Switching the driver worked really well for me. Thanks.
not sure what's going on yet, it looks like you are still in the admin group which is good.
Try running
gksudo synaptic in the command line. If you get synaptic, then there is something wrong...
I wonder if for some reason you lost your admin status. try typing
groups into a command line. What is the output of that.

Ok, so there has been lots of other posts similar to this, but none that have fully answered my question.
Let me give a little bit of background. I am not currently in this situation, but it...
The blinking lights are probably an indicator of some hardware malfunction. Check your manual for what it means, or check the internet.
