    Re: Looking for CPU/GPU monitor

I have used conky in the past, but it is all about finding the right script. I have never heard of gkrellm. I will give that a try. Thanks!

  5. Re: Search an entire state for homes - Is a Web Crawler the right way to go?

My parents were thinking of moving to Florida, because the homes were so cheap. Unfortunately distance played a big factor. I think they used realtor.com a lot. Easiest way to search is type in a...

    Re: August April Screenshots

Debian is pretty awesome. I can customize my own window manager and DE if I want. Right now I am running Debian Sid with Openbox. Check out screenshots of my gaming PC on page 1 of this thread.

That last screenshot is funny... Xubuntu running inside Windows 8.1. I'm still rocking Windows 7 in classic mode. I never did get into Windows for tablets.

  10. Re: Post your opinions on what would make file management simpler for newbies.

Do you mean file system (e.g. ext2,fat,ntfs) or file manager (e.g. pcmanfm, nautilus, thunar)? I use PCManFM. It handles all my mounted drives, including samba shares. I can drag and drop anything...

    Re: Open source laptop

The hardware specs aren't bad, quad-core CPU, but it seems overpriced for a DIY laptop. It also looks kinda ugly. I would rather just buy a cheaper Dell that runs just as good.

I have only seen dual-boot mentioned once. Why isn't dual-booting an option for you? It gives you the best of both worlds, the stability of Linux and the compatibility of Windows. I dual-boot...

    Re: Need opinions about processors

Main reason I chose AMD over Intel is because of price. People are saying AMD is behind in the CPU department, but they still have a reasonable price. As far as OSes go, I dual-boot both Debian and...

    Re: Need opinions about processors

I can't say much for Nvidia, but I bought a R9 270X for under $200 and it runs all my games at 1440x900 ultra settings. I don't need to run games at 1080p to play them. I also bought a FX-4300 CPU...
