    Real Linux Games

I've been looking through the forums lately, looking for some sort of fun game to play under Linux. Aside from the basic stuff (Sudoku, Chess, Solitaire, etc), almost everything seems to be based on...
  2. Re: AMD 8.41.7 Display Driver Released -- The Holy Crap Edition!

I was really hoping to see something that would actually work with my ATI hardware.

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

Go ahead and put away that ugly systray icon; I got the awn plugin to work with pidgen. Here's what you do:

Edit gaim_awn.c and change the include of "gtkgaim.h" to "pidgen.h".

    Add the...

    Re: Howto compile Pidgin IM

When at all possible, I recommend using prevu to build packages. I think it's in the repositories now, so the following steps should set it up for you:

    sudo apt-get install prevu

    Re: Howto compile Pidgin IM

You don't have any source repositories in your sources.list. Try adding this, then run apt-get update again:

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

I'm using the Emerald Theme that's in the article. I think it's called "Dream".

I'm pretty sure you can modify the gaim plugin to work with pidgin. I'd look into it myself, but I don't actually...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

I do have a suggestion for the gaim system tray icon: get rid of it. There's a plugin for gaim that uses DBUS to communicate with Avant Window Navigator to do the same thing. In the first screenshot...
  8. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

Whoops: that is my fault. That "INSTALL" file is not actually mine. The whole reason I screwed around with everything and made the package was because it didn't. I should have deleted that first.

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

I suppose I can, but it might be a while. I've got a lot on my plate at the moment.
  10. Re: Mac-style Menu Bar for GTK and Java/Swing applications!

Which error message are you talking about?

If it's the one where it says that there was an error and asks if you want to delete the applet or not, I've found the bug.

    Basically, the...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

Well, for one, my deb actually works. There was a bug in the one I had originally been using that meant that it would give me an error any time I added a macmenu applet or logged into my account. I...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

Oops, I guess I overlooked that post. I'm happy with everything now, so I'll go ahead and post my modified macmenu sources and the amd64 deb.

I mostly made this for personal use. I did comment all...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

I've made a ton of modifications to the macmenu, but I cannot manage to get the Title to line up with the menu. You can see it in the attached screenshot: "Text Editor" does not line up with the...

I forgot to post the screenshot. I posted a second reply below. I'll report my own post in hopes that it gets deleted, since I can't seem to figure out how to do it myself.

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

Attached is practically the perfect example of the button problem. In fact, it shows another (relatively minor) problem as well. I also often have it happen with fileroller, when I open some sort of...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

Thanks for posting the icons earlier. It's not everything, but it's certainly a considerable step in the right direction. I've got NM and the Volume Applet using those pictures, now.

    I do have one...

Re: Make Gnome look like OSX

What about just the system tray icons? Do you have the same difficulties?

I'm very glad that I read this. I had been sorta migrating from a basic Ubuntu setup to a more Mac OSX setup anyway, since...
  18. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

Try using the command "firefox32" from the command line. If your launchers are set to run "firefox", it will probably still run the 64-bit version.
  19. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

There's no error message, but the printer doesn't come up in the print dialog. The only thing present there is "PostScript/default". When I open my 64-bit Firefox, it lets me print without issue.

I finally got this FAQ to work after reformatting my laptop and installing Edgy final on it. I only have one problem: I cannot print in the 32-bit browser. Is there any solution to this, or am I just...
  21. Re: Howto Install 32 bit Firefox with Flash w/sound and Java for AMD64

I finally, after installing at least 5 different 32 bit browsers (Firefox32, Firefox2-32, Iceweasel32 from the original post and Firefox 3 and Swiftfox), I finally managed to get Java working in one:...

    Re: HOWTO: Install latest aMule

It's generally a good idea to look at the date on a post.

While installing amule might be relatively simple now, it may not have been so back in March of 2005.
  23. Re: Build (backport) an Edgy package to run on Dapper

When Feisty development gets underway, will we be able to use the current version of prevu to backport from Feisty to Edgy? If not, will a new one be released for Edgy?
