This works! At least it appears to have done so thus far...
Thanks!!!!
I'm curious if all the mice you've tried were USB or if any of them were the older PS/2 hook-up. There has to be some reason why:
1. The problem did not appear on my computer until about two weeks...
Yeah, me too!
Clunky way to handle it is with a very deliberate mouse press and a release half a second to one second later. Your problem is with Natty. Mine is with Karmic. Looks like it's an...
That's a valid statement; however, the problem is apparently not being cured with the later versions. Here's a link to a thread with the same problem on Natty:...
For the last two-three weeks my mouse has started interpreting about every other single click as a double click. It's apparently a bug. It's apparently a known bug. It has apparently been a bug,...
I'm having the same problem and would be happy to add a couple of capacitors... these go inside the mouse?
Wonderful--much better than the Brother website instructions.
Also, Synaptic works. Type Brother and your printer model in the search box, and it'll even select the driver pkgs with that model...
As a follow-up, after some reading, I did manage to reset some of the options. I also discovered that if you go into Nautilus via terminal using then you can click to view hidden files and navigate...
I had the same issues, and the WICD Network Manager fixed it for me. Download with Synaptic. OH, you have to plug in directly to download it, then you can unplug the direct wired connection and...
You probably use Right Click and "V" to save an image. You may have hit the "B" by mistake. Go to the website and Right Click somewhere, then when the box comes up, uncheck the box to block images....
Make sure you're using the NONFREE Flash reader. You have to go to, IIRC, the multiverse repository and enable it. Then you uninstall the free Flash reader. Also, don't install via Firefox......
I have used XSANE for scanning for several years, and it has recently been giving me trouble. It resizes when I copy, and it resizes when I scan into a multipage pdf. It's not drastic, an 8.5 x 11...
I'm not sure WHY, but mine's totally different... and not squashed up. See attached screenshot.
That one is, indeed, very good. Also, there is The Official Samba 3.2.x HOWTO and Reference Guide by Jelmer R. Vernooij, John H. Terpstra, and Gerald (Jerry) Carter May 27, 2009
I was having...
I installed system-config-samba today and used it to set up the user, user password, and the file sharing today. It worked.
So if nothing else works, try that!

From page 78 of Samba 3 by example, free download from the samba website:
I think the operative line is the unix password sync = yes. Try changing it?
(This is in your smb.conf file...
The main hurdle is NOT the configuration of the smb.conf file--that's pretty easy. There are some pretty good examples in the pdfs available for free download from the Samba website.
(The main...
Try going to Synaptic Package Manager and search for wicd. It's not compatible with the Gnome Network Manager and will ask to uninstall it. That's okay. The install process will flag your user...

KGoldRunner
THANKS!!!!!
I used this information, and the corresponding wiki, to install KDE3.5 and then to install the older version of KGoldRunner. It works!!!!
I love the older version...
I have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G router. Actually I have 2 of them now. They won't talk to the modem. The internet service is cable.
If I plug directly from the cable modem to the ethernet...
That's what I did for me... and the print shop was able to print from the pdf. However, when I get a call about something that I can't see on my end (and I was worried about their being able to...
That's okay. I'll clarify. Just printing from Open Office, even large (30 + pages) files print just fine. From Open Office, I was also trying to use the Print-->Save as file. That creates a...
Here's my update:
The pdf files created, using either the CUPS pdf printer or the PDF creator built into Open Office make pdf files that are:
1. Fine for viewing on my Ubuntu computer,
2. Print...
