  1. Re: Problem with installation Linux Mint/Ubuntu/Elementary OS

Dell typically requires UEFI update, SSD firmware update.
Install AHCI drivers into Windows and change UEFI setting from RAID/Intel RST to AHCI.
And in Windows make sure fast start up is off.

    If...
  2. [ubuntu] Re: I'm having problems installing ubuntu on my medion device

At very least you need nomodeset to boot live installer. You may still need other boot parameters.

You need to have UEFI settings changed. But not familiar with your system.
    Often best to have...

Re: Add PrimeOS / Android x86 to grub

I think this was UEFI, but the grub direct boot stanza would not be different, only if chain load to an UEFI entry would be totally different.

  5. [ubuntu] Re: I'm having problems installing ubuntu on my medion device

Is this 32 bit UEFI or 64 bit UEFI. Generally only some small/tablet type systems were 32 bit UEFI.
You typically want to boot new systems in UEFI boot mode.

    What video card/chip?

  7. Re: Inspiron 7791 2 in 1 - cannonlake-pinctrl int34bb:00: request() failed for pin 18

Windows hides various partitions, you do not normally see ESP nor recovery partitions unless you mount them.
    Post these:

    sudo parted -l
    sudo fdisk -lu
  8. [ubuntu] Re: dock Dell TB16 does not work with XPS 13

The update definitely recognized your dock.
But it did not do an update, but it looks like version is very current, by created date.
    Shows it needs reboot.
Not sure then if that is a warm reboot...

If terminal output please just copy & paste into forum. And use code tags to preserve formatting.
Easy to add code tags with Forum's advanced editor & # icon.

  11. [ubuntu] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 newly installed stuck at boot

About same as my Asus with GT620.
I have to make multiple settings in UEFI to have it work. And after every UEFI update redo most of them. Have had some issues where too many boots of flash drive...

You can add the AHCI drivers into Windows, so both are happy with that.

  14. Re: Inspiron 7791 2 in 1 - cannonlake-pinctrl int34bb:00: request() failed for pin 18

Generally with Dell you do have to do the UEFI update, but that should not break Windows.
Also if SSD, you may need SSD firmware update.
And only use Windows to shrink the NTFS partition & reboot,...
  15. Re: Need to uninstall an NVIDIA driver, but which one?

We typically do not suggest running the .run files from nVidia.
As then you have to rerun the dkms on every kernel update.
Where versions of nVidia installed from repository just work.
    And if you...
  16. [ubuntu] Re: Without access to BIOS, how to dual-boot Windows 10 and Ubuntu?

Were you installing in UEFI boot mode? How you boot install media UEFI or BIOS is then how it installs.

[ubuntu] Re: GRUB on a RAID system

    Do not know RAID.

But old grub legacy did not need as large of an embedding area, the space after the MBR but before first partition. Since your RAID starts at 512 bytes, you left no space.
