One thing that helped me somewhat is turning on triple buffering in the Config.wtf file:
SET tripleBuffer "1"
I believe is the line--I'm at work so I don't have my Config.wtf in front of me.

Whoever created that should post it to the official site addons.mozilla.org. Much easier to find there than on some blog post in the wild.
The one thing that appears to really be missing is a "Human" theme for firefox (and yes, I know I can use epiphany for the look...but I don't want to use epiphany, I want to use firefox).
