I am a self-taught programmer, who has made a living for the last few years working with java and android, as well as different web programming technologies.
I am at a point, however, where I know...
I haven't had to buy a laptop for about 3 years, and have completely lost track of the state of laptops/hardware in relation to Ubuntu.
If anyone can tell me what laptops work best with Ubuntu and...
Yes, I will consult best buy. I don't mean to get frustrated, but looking for something concrete, not a link, not advice to call best buy, but some personal experience. Or a link to the part of the...
Yeah, I saw that too, but it sounds like that could be just one jerk. Is there anything concrete that says "Ubuntu voids warranty"? Or "linux voids warranty"?
yeah, for sure on the software front. I would fix them myself. I just want to know, if someone knows for sure, about the best buy warranty. I will call as well. I have had situations where the person...
Will creating a split partition with Ubuntu void my best buy warranty?
Title pretty much says it all. Its my sisters computer, so I want to make sure.
Thanks
That's actually what I was doing. I was erasing things I didn't need so it would fit on my drive. Maybe its just time to get a bigger external hd.
You are the man! Files saves. Holy damn, so many family pictures and personal projects.
Thanks so much!
No, its not there. I deleted something from another partition, not from my current partition. Such things aren't usually kept in the current home recycle bin.
Remember, i have no home folder. On that partition.
Where is the file address for the recycle bin?
Okay, so I have a partition where I keep lots of random stuff, old /home folders, pics, things like that. The partition itself was an old ubuntu partition, so its set up like a regular install, with...
Does anyone know how I could save evolution tasks to the cloud?
Has anyone found a fix for this on Kubuntu 9.10? I would like to disable the mouse clicks capability entirely.
Still here? Any luck?
I install synaptic. It will be a big download, because it has to download some other gnome stuff. But if you plan on using ANY gnome software, you will have to do this anyway.
On a personal level, I...
Wow, I really like it.
Great color scheme. I do not come from a graphic design background, so from a layman, that is def pleasing to the eye.
Keep posting (also, there are things like gnome-look...
I love kubuntu, but for me, nothing compares with synaptic, so I use synaptic with kubuntu. Its better integrated in kde 4.2, even if its just a little ugly compared to the rest of my shiny kde...
No way you can use an ubuntu derivative, even crunchbang, on 32mb. Don't waste your time trying, it will be a singularly frustrating experience. It isn't meant to run on that. DSL will run on it, how...
Welcome to the community.
When using linux, you will find that there are different ways of doing things. With most applications, you don't have to download and install it anymore.
If you want to...
I really like Kmail. I use Kontact, which has kmail, and a calendar, allows me to keep notes and a to do list and has a journal. It even has a very good rss reader (akregator). There are some...
Also, this allows the regular wm to be loaded, and then starts compiz, which is rather clunky. I know there is a better way.
Also, isn't this thread number 500 or so for this topic?
You probably don't. Post that output, most things do not require a reinstall.
What wifi do you have? I have broadcom, which, for the first time ever (in 8.10), works almost out of the box. (You have to install broadcom-sta and restart, and it works so much better than...
