    Boot in UEFI mode is from UEFI boot entries which you can see with efibootmgr.

    Do not run any autofix with Boot-Repair.
    If reinstalling grub only use Boot-Repair's advanced mode booted in UEFI mode & choose one install & one ESP.

    Without seeing details difficult to know for sure.

    I periodically run Boot-Repair report, just to document my own system.

    Lets see details, use ppa version with your live installer (2nd option)...

    Generally you do not need to backup grub.
    You just reinstall it. That will restore defaults on settings.
    I do backup /etc/default/grub & /etc/grub.d/40_custom as I have modified them & restore...
