    [ubuntu] Re: Ultamatix

I generally would advise against installing Ultimatix. This also used to be the forum policy, but I'm not sure if it's since changed.

What do you want to install it for?

[ubuntu] Re: iPod to Computer Transfer with Rythymbox

    Rhythmbox won't do that.

A command from the terminal is easiest, or just drag and drop.

How did you get your files organised on your ipod, btw?

    [ubuntu] Re: Automatically force mount?

Solve what? I'm not sure what the problem is.

In this case, where you have a USB drive that has been incorrectly unmounted that you want to force mount, you can force mount it as a one-off.

    But...

    [ubuntu] Re: Automatically force mount?

No, that's not the point. Reading or writing to a drive with corrupt data can corrupt more data, or cause other problems.

    [ubuntu] Re: Automatically force mount?

I don't really understand, not being a windows user, but I think windows leaves the drive 'locked' as it were, as though it were still in use.

    Its NTFS, yeah?

    [ubuntu] Re: Automatically force mount?

We should work out why it won't mount normally first.

It probably wouldn't be a good idea to automatically force a mount - linux is pretty good at working out when something shouldn't be mounted....

    [ubuntu] Re: Live cd problem

The option to boot from CD is not one made by the boot manager on your hard drive, it is made earlier than that - by BIOS.

So, BIOS says boot from hard drive, then you get the option which kernel...

    [ubuntu] Re: can't mount volume

You could boot into a windows machine, plug it in, and then 'Safely Remove Hardware' it. Then it will be fine.
