Unfortunately, this does not appear to have gotten me anywhere.
Installed:

I'm actually already on xorg-edgers. I just updated to the latest packages, and the result is the same.
Installed packages:

That's fine. I'm not looking for peak performance. fglrx has been unstable for me.
Slower DRI is OK, but no DRI is something wrong.

Running Ubuntu 13.04 with a Radeon 7870.
Completely uninstalled fglrx driver. Installed the "radeon" open source driver.
Performance is very slow. glxinfo says Direct Rendering is "yes", but...
This is my biggest complaint with Unity right now. Is there really no resolution to the problem?
I'd either want to have the notification area/system tray appear on my main monitor only, or at the...
I have right-click working with a three finger click on my 13" MBP.
But here's the weird part: to achieve this, I have to use the following seemingly incorrect setting:
Option "ClickFinger2"...
OK. I appreciate the clarification. And I also greatly appreciate the driver. It now delivers sufficient support for the integrated-button MBP trackpad that I can finally use Linux on my 13" MBP...
I'm a little confused on acceleration and sensitivity.
I notice that when I go to the General tab in Mouse Preferences in GNOME, if I alter the Acceleration slider, it impacts the response of the...
I have been driven absolutely nuts by the two finger right-click functionality. I pretty much despise it in OS X too. Constant right-clicks when I'm just trying to do a damn normal click. I'm SO...
Strange issue with Thunderbird 3.1.4 in Ubuntu 10.10.
I don't hate myself enough to try and describe the problem with words, so I made a "video" of it:
...
Tried that. It did not work.
The only thing that worked was a complete reinstall.
Keep in mind that the white screen happened with all video, not just Skype.
My solution, which worked, was a fresh 10.04 reinstall.
Obviously there was something in the upgrade path from 9.04 or 9.10 to 10.04 that caused this issue for some of us.
I just discovered that this is not limited to webcam video.
I tried to play a WMV file and got the same white box in VLC.
A reinstall is definitely in order. Sad! I had gone so long without a...
Unfortunately, no. I did try that, and I should have mentioned so.
But it's not a case of V4L not being able to interact with the device - it's working.
For some reason, the video does not...

EDIT: You know what? This is pretty clearly a software issue. I think I will go repost this in the Multimedia/Video board, it's probably more applicable there.

No. At least, not in the months I've been searching have I found a way.
Eclipse uses the SWT toolkit which supports native font rendering, including subpixel rendering.
Netbeans uses Swing,...

I have a new AMD "Puma"-based Toshiba laptop. I bought it because of the nice and small form factor.
It's far more powerful than I need in a laptop. What I want to do is maximize battery life.
...
I just purchased a Toshiba U405D, which features the new AMD "Puma" hardware platform.
The CPU is a Turion X2 RM-70. According to AMD, one of the features of the Puma is that "C-states are...
