Decided to give KDE another try on one of my test machines because I can.
All ready to try and finish this assignment... who knows, I might be able to code something of use one day :p
PS - That mind imploding moment when the definition you are working on gives you the answer you desire out of your examples you created to test it, but you are not sure why you wanted that answer as it seems wrong. My head now hurts!
On an older computer...
IBM Thinkpad (T43), 1.86Ghz Pentium M, 2GB RAM, 80 GB Hard drive, Xubuntu 12.04
Not a very creative desktop, but she's rock solid, and as quick as a weasel.
my new pic :lolflag:
I keep trying to like "green", but I can't get into it.
Love your Unity screenshots with your custom conky as always, VinDSL. And speaking of car-based themes, KiwiNZ......
Full-size screenshots here:
As much as I loved my previous Hatsune Miku setup, it was time for a little change, especially after installing a powerful NVidia graphics card and going through trouble getting it to work with Linux (stupid nouveau drivers). I went with a Cadillac theme this time, specifically the upcoming Cadillac ELR extended-range electric vehicle (similar hybrid technology found in the Chevrolet Volt) And I changed the Oxygencolors icon theme, File Manager, and Ubuntu logo icons accordingly.
The wallpapers are ones I made myself, using some stock images of course. The text in the wallpapers are snippets of lyrics from a couple techno songs... only because they're fitting to the car.
I also made a change to my app launcher. Instead of the Takeoff Launcher, I'm experimenting with the ROSA Launcher, as shown in the second screenshot, which I can activate from Docky just like I had done with my Takeoff Launcher, just like I had done in GNOME Shell to activate GNOME Activities. This post (here) illustrates how I accomplish it. This post (post here) also goes in depth.
Overall, I'm still sticking with KDE, and keeping the Mac OS X style interface. I do plan on upgrading to Quantal when it's released, though I may decide to go with Kubuntu this time instead of Ubuntu. And best of all... although I had to temporarily add nomodeset in GRUB to boot it, and add the proprietary NVidia drivers, Ubuntu's working for me again. Just gotta do it all over again when I upgrade to Quantal.

Decided to change my W520 background... still nothing special done to it.
Unity running on 12.04
I have a new T530 coming soon... not sure what background I will have on that.
I've used Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman and Keith Jarrett as backgrounds - now it's Charles Mingus's turn.
