[8.04]Where is the ubuntu Service Manager to stop and start servies?
Hi
Thank you for reading my post
I know that Apache and mysql are installed in my computer and starts when I start the ubuntu, but I dont want them to start automatically and I need to start them manually when I need.
Is there something like Services manager which we have in windows available for ubuntu?
thanks

Use the command
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 stop
or
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start
or
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
depending on what you want.

you could also install bum to enable/disable services.
Re: [8.04]Where is the ubuntu Service Manager to stop and start servies?
Since Karmic, the old init commands have been deprecated and might not work. The good news is that it's now even easier: simply run
Code:
$ sudo start <service>
to start, stop to stop, or restart to restart.

I know this is an old topic, but bum is a really useful tool! =D>
