Lubuntu at the North Carolina Technology in Education Conference
I wanted to let everyone here know that I will be doing a presentation on “Linux in the classroom” at the North Carolina Technology in Education Society Conference (NCTIES). I will be discussing how teachers K-12 can put Linux on older machines to give students access to more computers. The two main destros I will be discussing are Lubuntu and Bodhi!
As some of you may know from my other posts, I am a first grade teacher and was lucky enough to get my hands on about 30 Asus netbooks that were to be discarded. They had some terrible proprietary linux OS on them that they had been shipped with. I began to experiment with Linux and started to put Lubuntu on them (and Bodhi on the ones that are non-pae).
My students use Linux every single day and so do the fourth graders in my wife's room. I wrote my proposal to NCTIES and now have the opportunity to discuss Lubuntu and Bodhi to thousands of teachers from all over the country!
If anyone has anything they wanted me to cover, reply to the thread and I'll include it. So what do you all think? How long till Linux takes over the classrooms of the nation?

This is a great idea, and it is well timed, coming close to the end of life of Windows XP :-)
