Debian Wheezy, too lazy to reboot right now or I'd have a Trusty screenshot as well. Same as last month, nothing special.

Same as last month. Fvwm 2.6.5. Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I changed the look for December. That's what I love about Fvwm: if you get bored if one GUI, you can have any other you want.

I over slept waiting to be the 1st poster for December. :D
It's already Dec. 2 here. And here's my freshly installed Mint 16 Cinnamon.
I stayed quite long with Xubuntu but I think Cinnamon 2.0 is stable now.

Nice!
I've been building a Dell Latitude D630 ATG from FleaBay (new OEM overstock parts).
Got a 'ruggedized' HDD coming, this week.
Anyway, this is where the project stands right now...
Baby steps... baby steps... :)

For December I am going totally traditional Gnome 2 set up with two panels (one at top one at the bottom) on aging Acer Aspire 5532 notebook. Just like last month, I am running lubuntu 13.04 as the base, with everything relating to lubuntu removed and Mate desktop installed. Theme wise I have Radiance as the controls, with Bluebird as the window borders, with Faenza-Radiance as the icon set. Wallpaper is Ubuntu graffiti.

Pretty much stock other than the wallpaper and I hid the keyboard icon in the panel. This was an upgrade install from 13.04 with very good results.

I own a 10" Asus EeePC 1000HD, running Peppermint Four. Love it, but it doesn't project the image I'm looking for in the boardroom, convention halls, attorney's office, et cetera.
Dell D620/D630 laptops fit right in, in the corporate world...

You know... it's funny you mention that.
I just bought the optional OEM shock-mounted, 'ruggedized' HDD for my ATG D630, and decided to try some different distros.
I tried installing Crunchbang 11, Elementary Luna, and Ubu 12.04 LTS.
All of them worked great on a USB stick with persistence, but when I installed them to the HDD, they all failed, in one way or another.
Peppermint Four Re-Spin (11/2013 build) is the only one that worked out_of_the_box without a bunch of fiddling around.
I prefer Peppermint OS on portables anyway, so no big deal.

Have tried Peppermint and found it OK, haven't tried the respin though.
As you know the O/S has to be light and stripped down to the bare min for a old netbook to cope will have a go thanks.
Thanks!

Yep. I somehow managed to kill Debian 7 beyond repair, and the only thing I had available was a remastersys'd ibex, so here it is. I'm amazed at how much just works, despite being more than a little outdated. I think I'll keep it for a while. :)

Been having a look at Manjaro and quite like it with openbox.
Using tint2 for top panel. I'm running two workspaces and like the way tint2 separates the applications for each workspace.
Using cairo-dock as a simple launcher.

I see KDE's got a bit more interesting since I last used it. Can the taskbar be used as a dockbar now, or is it still exclusively Windows-Vista-style?

there is stuff like cairo-dock, docky, plank, etc. if there is not.
i was just messing with kde (14.04 alpha), did not notice a dock option on the panel, but it took me a hour to get hdmi audio working, im a kde noob

Let that be a lesson to you kids.. Always pay attention when partitioning. I accidentally blew away my 14.04 partition. So, this month, until I'm motivated to re-do the partitioning, here's Windows 8.1
It's not as tragic as I thought AND I installed Flight Simulator again.. I loved that sim..

Many thanks.. I actually wasn't expecting a response at all. I appreciate it.
It's as close as I can get to my beloved Numix theme.. I don't have GColor2 or hex colors to work with, only a brightness slider with which to change color intensity.
I didn't elaborate, I do have Classic Shell running and I boot straight into desktop. I only use the "Start Screen" as a weather/stocks widget that display information.. I don't usually launch much from it. About the most I do is click on the weather tile and look at the radar..
