Just got a second hand 686, 600mhz 68meg ram comp. has windows 98 on it I would like to get ubuntu on it, try to load atm, is this possible?

Maybe you can try Ubuntulite but I don't think it's a very good idea. Puppy Linux would be awesome, though.
Highly unlikely. 7.10 & 8.04 need 384 mb ram to run and older ubuntu versions needed 256 mb ram. If you want linux, try Damn small linux - I think even puppy linux would struggle on that, unless you can find more ram, nearly anything will struggle.
yea..right now mu ubuntu's using 17% of my 2 gig 800mhz ram :P thats about....300 or sumtin..i am not good with math stuff :D
oh..and the only effect im using is wobbly windows..
PS: how many fps u get in crysis? 0_o
maybe xubuntu but im not sure. i dont think ubuntu will let the install even run with that system.
I've run BREEZY ubuntu on that ram and even smaller. Don't know where you could get that iso anymore, though.
Besides Puppy, damn small linux and delilinux would be good. Delilinux would run real well.
