Updater: You are not allowed to perform this action
Running 18.04 trying to get to 20.04.
Run the updater, always says "you are not allowed to perform this action".
There is only one user on this machine. It has all the privs. I can use SUDO and do things. Everything else works. But the updater gives me this message.
What now?
Re: Updater: You are not allowed to perform this action
Are you attempting to do this through the terminal?
If so, would you please copy and paste both the command issued and the results returned?
Re: Updater: You are not allowed to perform this action
No, I'm trying to run the Software Updater app. Every time (ever since this machine was built) that the updater runs, it says it doesn't have enough privileges. When it shows pending updates, and I click "update" it starts like it's going to do them, and then ends without doing or saying anything. When I manually run the updater app, I get the above message.
As I noted, I'm logged into the only user account on the machine. It has, as far as I can tell, every privilege you can have. How do I know that? I can do literally anything from the command line with SUDO and putting in the password. Everything works.
Except the updater app.
