Can't get a higher resolution than 1024x768. Is this normal?
Greetings all. First, I am a new user of Linux, so I am at the base of my learning curve.. so be patient with me please..Lol
I cannot seem to get a higher resolution than 1024x786. I have 2 x ATI 6850's (Crossfired) going out to a 24 inch LG Flatron. I installed the proprietary drives, then tried installing them and installing the very latest ones right from ATI.. I'm still stuck at 1024x768.
So, my question is: does Ubuntu support a higher resolution than stated above? If so, what am I doing wrong, or what can be done to correct the situation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ubuntu 11.10 (64 bit version) btw

Ah.. I thought I had it fixed, as the 1920x1080 was now selectable in the Catalyst control panel, but upon reboot, it defaulted back to a lower resolution... #^$%^% ... sugggestions?
