I'm getting the same problem, and was referred to the thread by Google.
Can I ask why is it necessary tp close off unsoved threads just because they're old?
And why is it necessary to discourage posts to unsoved threads just because they're old... the poster might be offering a solution or asking for one?
Re: Old post closed by admin but no solution posted: C 'Hello World' issue(s)
Things move on and old threads often contain questions that are no longer applicable and answers that are out of date.
If you have a question, post it so that you have a chance of an up to date answer.

The general rule is as posted above: Software is in fast development, and often information in an old thread is misleading when used in a new release.
However, if you have a specific example of a thread which deserves to be re-opened feel free to post a request here.

Or another solution is to open a new thread with your own problem and link to the old closed one for info.
Re: Old post closed by admin but no solution posted: C 'Hello World' issue(s)
If it was closed, then it was inactive (this happens automatidcally for very old threads).
As mentioned above, a new thread linking to the old one will let us concentrate on your version of the problem (seldom are problems exactly the same) while still referencing what has transpired before. And... you can mark the thread [SOLVED] when/if that happens. (You can't do that to someone else's thread)
