How to open a file (.dsp) with a wine powered software ?
Hi there.
I am using an acoustic software (Syrinx.exe) on ubuntu-mate with wine.
To identify bat sounds, I need to keep always a standard configuration.
To do so, on windows, we open a .dsp file with the software (right click, "open with", search of the software, and opening with it).
Can we do a similar tricks with wine ?
Thank you for your help.
Re: How to open a file (.dsp) with a wine powered software ?
yes, but you would have to tell it to use wine syrinx.exe to open it.
might be easier to open the software and then load the file.
edit - have you looked at possible alternatives for the software?: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...stics_Software
sometimes windows based software doesn't have a good one but sometimes there are better ones out there. even for specialised use. for example a guy made fencing tournament software. something that became quite expensive for clubs was suddenly available as open source. and it was much better and easier to use than the proprietary version. so, while i don't know much about echo location and bats, it might still be a good idea to explore the software options further.
Opensource has some really good software for science.

Well.
It seems to be right to open the config .dsp file after starting the software.
Thank you for your advice.
I'll be interested if you have any GNU/Linux open source software that can be use to analyze bat ultrasounds.
It seems to be working with these software using wine.

I didn't notice your wikipedia link. Thank you for that.
I'll however keep syrinx.exe, as it is used during formations and by the coordinators of Vigie-Chiro (the French citizen science program studying the bat records), provided it works fine.
