Is there software for ubuntu to detect malicious software / trojans?
Personally, I don't run an antivirus on my computer running Ubuntu. But this may help you find what you are looking for:

you have the clamav it´s free but only detect malwares for windows and ubuntu
the ubuntu virus i´ts rare becouse if you dont use the root the malware only infect the user and not system

There are no viruses out on the interwebz for Linux. Therefore, any linux Anti-Virus program will be scanning for Windows viruses. And windows viruses won't affect a Linux machine (unless you take extra measures to execute it or you're using Wine). However, that doesn't mean that you're free and clear of all threats.
