Install Via Text Help And Intel Graphics Help (Newbie Alert)

I am very much new at doing thing via text in Linux and have only been using ubuntu since middle of 2008 and it says here that i need to install via text because i have an old intel graphics http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=207320 but it seems the instructions are made for the dvd but i have the live cd or i just cant under stand them....... may someone give me very simple steps for installing and fixing the problem with the intel graphics?
