Not allowed to use the Ubuntu forums
I, a non-member, have received an email which says I attempted to post to a members only forum. I have no reason to do this and no knowledge of having done this. However, I do accept that I must have done so.
I have made a search for member forums to try to ascertain how I could have made an error but have be unable to find such a forum. It eludes me how I could have done such a thing accidentally, however, I must have done so.
I ask that, having acknowledged in a reasonable manner that I have made an error, that my access to the forums be reinstated.
I would add, if my request is granted, that how I could have made this error be advised if possible to enable me to avoid this in future.
Thank you
Re: Not allowed to use the Ubuntu forums
When I first read your post I have to admit that I couldn't work out what you might be referring to. However, on checking your profile I see that you changed the email address registered to your forum account on 29th October (it is now 8th November), but that you did not re-activate your account from the verification email sent to the new email address. Without re-activating your account, you cannot post to any sub-forum here, except this one, the Resolution Centre. Is this the email you are referring to? If so, why did you not click on the link in the email?
The verification email will now be expired so, to save time, I have re-activated your account for you.
If by chance you are referring to something else, you will need to provide more details. If this isn't an account verification issue, I don't know what it might be.
By the way, when you changed your email, the forum software displayed a message telling you about the verification email and the need to use it. This is fairly standard security practice for online accounts of all sorts, not just forums. If you change something significant in your account profile, a verification email is sent to you, which you need to act upon.
Re: Not allowed to use the Ubuntu forums
Thank you.
Receiving the message that I had posted to a member forum totally threw me. Sorry I missed the confirmation email, I am aware of the procedure and have no explanation at this time.
