Ubuntu 10.10 Boot Installation Freeze ATI
Hi All,
I am a Linux newbie and am attempting to install a dual boot on my laptop alongside XP SP3. I've tried booting from both a USB and CD image. I can get as far as the basic options menu at the boot where I select to install Ubuntu on the main disk. After that it loads, but freezes before any install dialogues pop up, and usually the screen goes blank. I suspect this might have something to do with my display adapter, since my display can sometimes flicker or show horizontal lines in XP.
Here's my system:
Gateway CX210X Tablet PC
Intel T2500 2GHz
2 GB Ram
ATI Mobility Radeon x1400
Does Ubuntu typically have problems with this particular hardware combination? Any ideas how I can get around this? I'd prefer to install a dual boot as opposed to installing Ubuntu inside of Windows.
Cheers,
Ben
