Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu
Thanks for that information BicyclerBoy! My newly built computer does not have a bluray drive but I see bluray readers/writers for $100 on ebay so I suspect that when I get back from my holiday I may very well invest in one. I suspect that in this guide and my vlc one I will not be able to publish too many details about aacskeys but looks like details about libbluray and libaacs themselves should not upset anyone. Interesting times indeed :).
Edit: A gratuitous gkrellm screenshot showing my new 8 core computer (AMD FX-8150) compiling the latest svn MPlayer using -j 12. abcde is also ripping and converting in the background :).
Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu
I have filched the bluray information from my own vlc-git guide and placed it on the MPlayer guide. I don't have a blueray drive yet (should have in 3-4 weeks) so I will be keen to hear of any problems with this build.
Edit: Somewhat belatedly added in a Live555 version that MPlayer is happy with...

April 29th 2012
Due to the upcoming changes to this guide's old home on these Forums I have, with much regret, moved this guide to my own personal website:
Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu
http://www.andrews-corner.org/mplayer.html
where I have just now released an updated version for Ubuntu 12.04, Precise Pangolin.
I attach a complete copy of the older guide as mplayer_guide.gz in case anybody wishes to make a wiki, blog, web page etc of this guide as it was for Oneiric Ocelot.

Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu
OK I have archived the guide (attached to the first post) [...]
If anybody wishes to produce a wiki page from this guide please go ahead, all the information is contained as mplayer_guide.gz attached to the first post of this thread.

Actions speak louder than words, eh ? :) I may not be far behind you......
Re: Howto: Build the svn MPlayer under the latest release version of Ubuntu
Mind you I have also converted a couple of guides, one today and a few less recently:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Leafnode2
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/slrn
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/find
But these are guides that work fine in a wiki environment, others such as my MPLayer and vlc guides are not suited. Personal website is ok, an atmosphere such as T&T would be better for these...

Looks like the --disable-mencoder option is implicated, certainly builds ok if mencoder builds as well. I have asked for help.....
BTW you may have noticed that opencore-amr has released a new version with some small but worthwhile changes:
Code:
0.1.3
- Adjusted libtool flags for building DLLs for windows
- Update to the latest upstream opencore source
- Updated and improved example applications
- Add options for enabling the arm inline assembly
- Add options for disabling the encoder or decoder in the amrnb library
- Avoid dependencies on libstdc++ if building the source as C
- Hide internal symbols in shared libraries
- Minor tweaks
- Remove old static makefiles and corresponding build scripts
Looks like this will not be in Precise, but it is installed on my system :)
