After installing Ubuntu 8.10 I wanted to import my bookmarks from Windows XP... so after figuring out where Ubuntu absurdly places bookmarks (in a hidden folder, zzz) I managed to copy my file from Windows and overwrite the bookmarks.html file.
That didn't do anything, even after a reboot I still have the same near-empty bookmark list. I even tried using the inbuilt importer in Firefox and not only did that not do anything helpful, it has now screwed up my current empty bookmark list by adding a dozen useless, unremovable lines.
How something manages to access a file that no longer exists is what's confusing me. I literally deleted the old one, and yet Firefox still accesses it.
The file in question is in /host/vire/.mozilla/firefox/mmd8uo0x.default called "bookmarks.html" and is the file that I thought i needed to replace. If not, where is the real file?
