View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't format my Harddrive

Alright. I recently deleted a partition on a 500GB drive. The problem is that I can't get any computer to see it. I booted into Windows, but the drive might as well not exist. The BIOS of my machine sees it, and when I boot to the Ubuntu 8.10 Live CD it will see it, but the partition manager can't delete any partitions on it. There's an extended NTFS partition showing on the drive, but I can't do anything to it. Essentially I'm looking for a way to force Ubuntu to format the drive so I can reformat it properly.

Thanks.

Mike

Make sure that harddrive is not currently mounted or you won't be able to delete or format it. Otherwise, post the screenshot (Applications -> Accessories) of gparted showing that harddrive.

Alright, I'll check and see if it's mounted. Otherwise I'll grab a screenshot and post it.

Okay, I unmounted the drive and deleted the partitions. Here's hoping it works in Windows. Thanks for the help.
